In-Person Learning Plan
We are excited about our plans to bring Barre students back for more in-person learning after our April break on the 26th!
Our teachers and administrators have been hard at work reviewing the new Strong & Healthy Year guidance from the Agency of Education to make this happen.
Information by School
All information below is subject to change. We will notify the community of any future changes.
Changes to Safety Procedures
As of April 12, 2021
- Vermont schools will no longer check student temperatures when they enter. Families should monitor this and keep students at home if they have a temperature of 100.4 F or higher.
- Masks are still required for students and staff.
- Barre Schools will continue to ask screening questions when students enter. Some schools will do this in person and some will collect a paper form from families.
- Visitors are still not allowed at school. Families are encouraged to meet with teachers and staff through video conferencing or with a phone call.
Remote Learning
Barre Virtual Academy (BVA) will continue its operation through the school year. BVA is currently at capacity and is unable to accept new students.
Spaulding High School will continue to independently serve remote students through its current program.
K-8 teachers will continue to post assignments through SeeSaw and Google Classroom to assist students who may need to be away from school to quarantine or for other COVID-19 related concerns.
Other than BVA and the Spaulding High School program described above, the district does not have the capacity to offer additional remote learning options once grades K-12 return to increased in-person instruction.
Transportation
Buses are shared between Barre City Elementary & Middle School (BCEMS) and Barre Town Middle & Elementary School (BTMES) to accommodate increased ridership while maintaining distancing guidelines as outlined in AOE Strong and Healthy Year guidance.
Sanitizing spray will be used after students are dropped off at a school, allowing time for the product to dry before picking up students at the next school.
Students may have to sit three students to a seat depending on the situation, but we will keep students as distanced as possible to the best of our ability. Students will be seated by household, classroom, daycare, or grade level to avoid mixing of groups. Students are required to wear masks on the bus at all times.
Beginning on April 26th, Spaulding High School will also be offering transportation service at dismissal time for those who registered.
