Physical Education at Barre Town Middle and Elementary School
Physical Education contributes to the growth and development of the individual. The physical education program at BTMES will provide positive and successful experiences that promote physical, social, mental, and emotional well-being. Through the use of sequential and developmentally appropriate movement challenges, each students will acquire the skills and knowledge to make healthy choices for a physical, active life.
Second Graders Visit Nursing Homes
BTMES second grade students visit nursing homes in February and March. They travel to Woodridge, Berlin Health and Rehab, Lincoln House, Mayo Residential Care in Northfield, and the Barre Senior Center. The students entertain the residents and staff by performing several traditional dances. The show is topped off with the giving of Valentines and nice conversations with the residents that live there. A very special time for all!
Kindergarten Dance Show
Kindergarten Dancers were very proud to show family and friends what they have been working on in Physical Education class during the dance unit. Children have been learning left to right, working together, learning specific terms (like promenade), taking turns being leaders, moving to a rhythm, and having fun while dancing socially with friends! Thanks for supporting quality physical education.
