Welcome to Barre Town Middle and Elementary School
The Barre Town School is one of Vermont's largest middle and elementary schools, currently enrolling 867 students in grades PreK-8. The Barre Town community, many years ago, educated its children in small one and two-room school houses. In 1966, the community decided to merge all of these neighborhood schools into one location. The community also decided, in 1971, to expand the original building, adding much-needed space.
The Barre Town community has a very long, uninterrupted level of support for its school, its children, and its school facility. Evidence of this support can be found in the nearly flawless record of passing school budgets and the excellent care of our facility and grounds. There are so many examples of community support.
We invite you to look around our website, meet our faculty, staff, administration, and school board. We pride ourselves on a very capable, steady, professional group of employees. People who come to work here tend to dedicate themselves for long periods of time, as do the people who choose to volunteer either in classrooms or as school board or committee members! We're a very lucky group.
