TITLE: Solicitations in School     CODE: KH

The word solicitation is defined as the encouragement to buy or the selling of goods and services and the seeking of donations and opinions. Solicitation By Non-School District Groups

Pupils, parents, citizens, or personnel must have the consent of the principal to solicit in the school or on school grounds during school hours.

Solicitation By School Sanctioned Student Groups

Solicitation by pupils as a school club, activity or class shall:

  1. not be for any religious or political purpose;
  2. not be done so as to interfere with class or school activities;
  3. be limited to an approved academic or activity program;
  4. be approved by the principal in advance of the canvass with objectives and intent stated and kept on file in the principal's office; and,
  5. provide identifiable learning experiences for the participating students.

The solicitation of goods or services leading to the raising of money shall:

  1. follow good bookkeeping practices showing receipts and expenditures;
  2. provide adequate safeguards for the collection and deposit of funds; and,
  3. require copies of all transactions be kept on file.

Solicitation By Employees

No employee of the school system shall use his or her position to influence pupils or parents of the district to purchase materials, merchandise, or services except for those approved by the principal for use in the program of education.
