Barre Town Supervisory District Policy Manual TITLE: Student Health Services & Requirements CODE: JLC Health Service Staff The Board of School Directors believe optimal health is essential for maximum utilization of educational opportunities. The Board believes the health of any child bears a direct relationship to the quality of his/her educational development. It also believes that parents have the basic responsibility for the health of their children. The school's role is to help pupils and parents carry out their respective responsibilities. The school nurse has the authority to take necessary action to protect the general student body. In order that the school system may implement this policy to the greatest degree possible, there will be a school nurse(s) employed. They will have supervision of all areas of hygiene, either public or personal, and will be used for the instruction of students. School nurses will be directly responsible to the school Principal or his/her designee.
