TITLE: Student Social Events     CODE: JJB

Social Events

Definition Social events are defined to mean such activities as parties, picnics, dances, and fairs conducted under the jurisdiction of the school system in the interest of the pupils.

Standard

The teachers and pupils of a grade, class, activity, program, club, or organization may sponsor social events.

Procedures

  1. A teacher-sponsor must sanction the event and obtain the approval of the principal before the event is implemented.

  2. If school facilities or vehicles are to be used, the necessary permits must be obtained from the principal's office.

  3. The principal, with the teacher and appropriate student leaders, will determine the amount of teacher/parent supervision necessary, the need for police and fire protection, and such details as to hours and admission fees. The principal will inform the teacher-sponsor and through him/her the students of the guidelines, rules, and regulations applicable to the event.
