Barre Town Supervisory District Policy Manual TITLE: Student Activities CODE: JJ Approval of Activities Before making a recommendation to the Board of School Directors on any new extra-curricular activity, the superintendent will seek the advice of the principals and through them the advice of appropriate personnel. The superintendent will recommend an extra-curricular activity to the Board of School Directors for approval prior to its implementation. Extracurricular activities for which no funds are specifically budgeted are to be considered clubs and do not require Board of School Directors’ approval. Clubs may conduct their own meetings, develop and implement their own programs subject to the approval of the principal The program will not include interschool competition unless approved by the Principal and the Superintendent of Schools. There should be a teacher or other adult sponsor for each club or extra-curricular activity. Extra-curricular activities are recognized as a vital part of the learning process. Such programs should include opportunities for every student who desires to participate to do so.
