Assignment to Classes
Assignment to classes or grade placement is the responsibility of the administration through a process involving teachers, school counselors, and other appropriate personnel. Since the placement procedures include consideration of social, academic, and psychological needs, as well as other criteria, it is important to stabilize the assignments and placements as soon as possible. Except for students enrolled after May 30, all assignments to classes or grades will be completed by the second Wednesday in June.
The Administration and the School Board believe that parents should have an opportunity to participate in the assignment or placement of their child(ren) in the school. The procedures for involving parents in this process shall be found in the Parent/Student Handbook.
If parents have placement input, they should meet with the principal or fill out Parent Placement Information forms prior to May 1 of the school year. Placement requests should be educationally significant in order to be reviewed. Considerations beyond May 1 will be made only under the most extenuating circumstances.
