Student Teachers

Standard

The Barre Town School system recognizes its role in the preparation and training of college students for entrance into the teaching profession.

Procedures

1. The applicant, with the approval of his/her college supervisor, will file an appropriate application form , under go a criminal record check including an FBI fingerprint record check and be interviewed by the principal and cooperating teacher.

2. No teacher will be required to assume responsibility of supervising a student teacher but, if the responsibility is accepted, the teacher will participate in the training of the student teacher in accordance with procedures established by the college.

3. If, at any time, the role of the student teacher is detrimental to the educational processes of the pupils, the agreement may be abrogated by the principal.

4. The school of education sponsoring a student teacher will assume its rightful responsibility in terms of providing adequate training, sufficient time, and proper supervision. The written criteria will be determined by the building principal asked to receive the student teacher. If, in his/her opinion, a college cannot or will not meet the criteria, then student teachers will not be accepted from that college.
