Barre Town Supervisory District Policy Manual TITLE: Vandalism CODE: ECAC Vandalism Any person, child or adult who causes loss or damage to the building, school grounds, equipment, books, materials, property belonging to this school will make restitution for such loss or damage. In case of loss or damage to equipment, books and other materials, the standard value will be assessed at replacement cost. In case of damage to the building and grounds, the standard value will be assessed at the cost of restoring the item to its condition at the time of damage, including parts and labor. Such replacement costs may be levied and collected by the principal or his/her designee if the costs is the same or less than any applicable insurance deductibles. If the replacement costs exceed any applicable insurance deductibles, the case will be referred to the superintendent of schools. A receipt is to be given the person paying the replacement costs, and the money received placed in the business office. Funds will revert to the general account of the school system. In the case of loss or damage caused by other than pupils under the jurisdiction of the principal, the principal will inform the superintendent of schools of the loss or damage, and it will be the superintendent's responsibility to collect the money.
