TITLE: Budget Implementation     CODE: DBI

Budget Implementation:

The Barre Town School District budget serves as the control to direct and limit expenditures. Overall responsibility for this control rests with the Superintendent who will establish the procedures for budget control and reporting through the district.

The total amounts which may be expended during the fiscal year for the operation of the Barre Town School District are set forth in the budget. The total amount budgeted as the expenditure for each function is the maximum amount which may be expended for that classification of expenditures during the fiscal year, except as authorized by the Superintendent.

The Board places the responsibility for administering the operating budget, once adopted, with the Superintendent. In order to allow the Superintendent to administer and control the budget in an effective and efficient manner, the following principle s will be followed:

  1. All expenditure of funds for the employment and assignment of personnel must meet legal requirements of the Education Code of the State of Vermont and adopted Board policies.

  2. All purchases must be made in accordance with the requirements of the adopted Board policy.

  3. All budget actions must be consistent with other Vermont laws and with other policies of the Board.

  4. Appropriate financial reports will be given to the Board monthly for control purposes.

  5. The Superintendent will inform the Finance Committee on a monthly basis on budget exceptions.
