Events: Community Service Learning (CSL)

Community Service Learning (CSL) has been an integral part of the Problem Solving Through Literature Program (PSTL) for 18 years. CSL provides students with opportunities to use skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom to meet needs in their community, be it school, town, state, or world. Students gain skills in communication, problem solving, and social responsibility while learning to work with younger students, their peers, and adults in the wider community. This year 7th and 8th grade Teacher Advisory classes have begun to explore CSL as well as PSTL students. On Thursday, June 10th there will be a reception to display and hear about a wide array of student CSL projects. This event will take place in the gym from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

Attention Grade 4-6 families!

Our PSTL CSL group is holding a walk-a-thon to raise money for a project called Pennies for Peace. Pennies for Peace is a charity that builds schools for children in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It will be held on Saturday May 22nd (the morning of the Family Fun Day). There will be a 9:45 check-in and we will start at 10:00. Check in will be at the bike path entrance closest to the school building.

Watch for posters around school to sign up and grab a pledge form. For more information on Pennies for Peace, you can go to www.penniesforpeace.org.

Attention Parents!!!!

How many of you have found a penny and thought it was lucky? Well, it is not just lucky; it can actually change a life!

Sixth grade CSL students are in need of your help!

Jordyn Binaghi, Kate Paterson, Winter Morse, Keenan Child and Caitlyn Wilkin are collecting money for Greg Mortinson’s program Pennies for Peace, which helps children in Pakistan and Afghanistan acquire new schools.

We have asked that all students in K-4 classrooms bring in pennies or extra spare change between April 12th and 30th.

If you wish to make a larger donation, please send it directly to Mrs. Revell Allen (checks payable to Revell Allen). Thank you in advance for supporting this wonderful cause!
