BOARD SECRETARY: Donna Holden

1. Call to Order  

The Chairperson, David Harrington, called the Wednesday, March 21, 2007, meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., which was held in the Barre Town Middle and Elementary School Library, 70 Websterville Road, Barre Town, VT. A flag salute followed.

2. Visitors and Communications

A. Public Comment     None

3. Consent Agenda

A. Minutes of March 7, 2007 Regular Board Meeting
B. Warrants

On a motion by Mrs. Buzzell seconded by Mr. Kirkland, the Board unanimously voted to approve the warrants and minutes of March 7, 2007, regular meeting, as submitted.

4. Board Action Items

A. Approval of Teacher Contracts

Dr. Fagan advised the Board an additional teacher contract would require approval at a later date once the teacher received their proper licensure from the State.

On a motion by Mrs. Buzzell seconded by Mr. Bond, the Board unanimously voted to approve the teacher contracts, as submitted.

B. Last Day of School

Dr. Fagan explained, due to the use of two snow days resulting from the February blizzard it was necessary to move the last day of school for students to Friday, June 15, 2007, and for teachers to Tuesday, June 19th, barring any other unscheduled school closing events.

On a motion by Ms. Moore seconded by Mrs. Buzzell, the Board unanimously voted to approve the FY ’07 school calendar amendment to move the last student day to Friday, June 15, and the last teacher day to Tuesday, June 19.

C. Teacher Resignation

On a motion by Mrs. Buzzell seconded by Mr. Bond, the Board unanimously voted, with regret and best wishes, to accept the resignation of art teacher, Jill Leona, effective June 30, 2007.

5. Board Discussion Items

A. Legislative Update

Mr. Harrington advised the Board he just learned the Governor was holding a public forum at the Aldrich Public Library this evening to discuss school funding affordability.

The Board agreed to adjourn at this time to attend the forum; therefore discussion on the remaining agenda items was suspended.

6. Next Meeting Dates

Future meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month, unless noted. The next Barre Town School Board meeting dates are:

April 4, 2007 – 6:00 p.m.
April 18, 2007 – 6:00 p.m. *** Cancelled due to school vacation ***
May 2, 2007 – 6:00 p.m.
May 16, 2007 – 6:00 p.m.

7. Adjournment

On a motion by Ms. Moore seconded by Mrs. Buzzell, the Board unanimously voted to adjourn at 6:10 p.m.
